João Noutel

João Noutel (Porto, Portugal, 1971)

Lives and works in Lisbon, Portugal.

Graduated in Law (Universidade Lusíada); Post-Graduation in Design and Printing Techniques at Faculdade de Belas Artes / University of Porto; author and creative director of various publications and thematic projects (“Douro – The New Generation”, “Nas Tripas”), presented at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2005, his work is related to the image of several wines of premium category (Pelada, Qta da Pellada/Dão; Carrocel, Qta da Pellada/Dão; Conceito/Douro; Conceito New Zealand; Contraste/Douro; Bastardo/Douro; Voyeur, Niepoort/Douro, Sparkling Wines Filipa Pato, etc).

In 2007 he produced two exclusive limited editions of the series The Invisible Soul for the Serralves Museum, Porto; in 2008 he was amongst the invited artists for the first edition of Portugal Brands, in London, for the The London Design Festival; amongst other personalities, he was the chosen artist for the corporative video of Jason Associates (2009).

In 2009 he was the invited artist for the editions CasaDecor Porto and Lisboa; he is one of the artists of the ANAMNESE project, international digital platform of contemporary Portuguese art; he is represented in several private and state collections in Portugal, Spain, Germany and USA, exhibiting regularly since 2002.

He is the author of the public art project “VOYEUR – Giant The Voyeur Project, 2008, acquired by Colecção Travessa da Ermida, Lisbon; 2nd Prize in Painting 2008 Museu da Bairrada / Galeria Nuno Sacramento; 2nd Prize Imagem do Vinho 2010.

His work has been recently mentioned in several publications (Visão, ArtReview (UK), Attitude, TimeOut Lisboa and Arte.Es (Madrid). He was recently interviewed by the latin-american magazine ARTE Por Excelencias (2010).
